Note on materials

Icons are made in a traditional egg-tempera technique on solid wood boards with hardwood struts in the back and kovcheg (an ark, recessed area) on the front. Wall-paintings are executed on cotton canvas, thickly primed and sanded. Both icons and wall-paintings are finished with olifa (specially formulated linseed oil). Canvases are mounted on a wall with strippable adhesive.Engraved Icons are etched by hand on high grade black granite tablets.
